What it does

Every item. What you paid. What you make.

The register knows the shelf price. Your invoices know the cost. StoreDesk puts the two side by side for every item, so the margin on any of your few thousand products is one search away.

Try it: pick an item, then drag the shelf price.

Price book

Every PLU on your register in one searchable list, searched by barcode, name or department.

StoreDesk pulls the full PLU list from the Commander and only rewrites the items that changed, so refreshing a ten-thousand-item catalogue is quick and quiet.

When the line goes down

The register keeps trading, so StoreDesk does too

The register and the back-office PC talk over your own store network, so a dead internet line changes nothing about the price book, the reports or the sales tax working. Your catalogue, costs and sales history are on that PC, not in somebody else’s data centre, and signing in is checked there too.

StoreDesk also stops the PC dropping off to sleep while it is running. If it does restart, the service starts itself, picks up where it left off, and works through whatever it missed: the register sync, the phone tunnel and the daily export all catch up on their own.

Works with Verifone Commander

It reads your register. It writes only when you say so.

Everything below is read. Sending changes back is a separate setting, off until you turn it on, and every send is started and confirmed by a person.

StoreDesk reads

  • The PLU list, prices and departments
  • Daily, shift and monthly sales reports
  • Individual transactions, for the sales history

Only when you send it

  • Send a price or cost change you have staged and checked
  • Send up to 50 items in one batch, after a preview
How register writes work

StoreDesk never

  • Edit, void or refund a sale
  • Touch card processing or the pumps
  • Send anything at all on its own, without a person

Questions

What stores ask before they start

Short answers, each linking to the longer one.

Which registers does StoreDesk work with?
Verifone Commander. StoreDesk reads your price book and your sales over the store network using a Commander login you already have. It is not affiliated with Verifone. More on this
Does StoreDesk change prices on my register?
Only if you turn that on, and only when a person sends them. Sending changes back is off by default; when it is on, changes are staged so you can check them, and someone has to press send. Nothing is ever pushed to a till automatically. More on this
Does it keep working when the internet goes down?
Yes. The register and the back-office PC talk over your own store network, so the price book, the reports, the sales tax working and signing in all keep working with no internet. Phones away from the store, the Google Sheets export and licensing need the line. More on this
Where is my sales data kept?
On the back-office PC in your store. Your price book, supplier costs, transactions and sales history never reach StoreDesk. The account we hold covers your stores, each store's licence and which PCs are connected. More on this
Which sales tax returns can it prepare?
The Georgia ST-3. StoreDesk works the return out from sales data you already have and produces a file you upload to the Georgia Tax Center yourself. It does not file on your behalf, and Georgia is the only state supported today. More on this
What do I need to run it?
A Windows 10 or later PC in the back office that can reach your register over the store network, and an Android 5.0 or later phone for the shop floor. There is no iPhone app yet. More on this
How do staff get the phone app?
From Google Play, like any other app. Each person signs in with an account you create for them, and you choose which screens they can open. There is no public sign-up. More on this
How long does setup take?
About an afternoon. Install on the back-office PC and paste the setup key we email you (keep it: it also sets up a replacement PC), then point StoreDesk at your register and let the price book import. More on this
What does StoreDesk cost?
There is a 30-day trial, then a 365-day plan. Pricing depends on how many stores you run, so ask us at developer@storedesk.net and we will tell you plainly. More on this
